Friction Bolt Ground Support
- -Friction Bolt Ground Support, made from a strip of high-tensile steel, is roll-formed into a C-shape featuring a longitudinal slot for engagement. Designed with one end tapered to simplify insertion into a drill hole, the opposite end is securely welded to a ring that anchors the bearing plate.
- -Thermal diffusion galvanizing is available for the friction Bolt ground support.
- -Usually combined with domed plates, provides anchoring force for rock strata.
- -Friction Bolt Ground Support undergoes very stringent tensile testing to ensure product quality.
Friction Bolt Ground Support Functions
Friction Bolt Ground Support is a frictional ground support system. When a friction bolt is inserted into a drilling hole with a smaller diameter, the slot partially closes and the bolt diameter is compressed, which creates radical forces on the rock roof surface along the whole length and firmly holds the rock.

How to work
Firstly, conduct an assessment of the ground conditions.
Select the appropriate bit and bore a hole by the diameter and length of the friction bolt ground support, as well as the specified drilling method.
Ensure the hole's length exceeds the friction bolt's length by at least 150mm.
Affix a plate onto the friction bolt ground support, positioning the dome against the ring and the tapered end towards the front.
Install the friction bolt ground support so they are perpendicular to the rock's surface.
Insert the driver dolly into the bolt and drive the friction bolt ground support into the hole until the plate is securely against the rock surface.
Avoid striking the friction bolt once the plate is snugly attached to the rock surface to prevent damage to the end of the friction bolt ground support.
After installation, conduct pull tests to verify the initial anchorage effectiveness of the friction bolts.
